Do you have a closet full of baseball pants, belts, gloves and cleats that have been outgrown? Are old batting helmets, catchers gear, bats and balls taking up needed room in your garage? Give those items and chance to play again through Second Base!

We are collecting used baseball gear and reusing and recycling it within Arden Little League and beyond. Second Base will be collecting donations and distributing gear to those who would like gently used pants, belts, gloves and cleats.

WHERE TO DONATE:  At the Second Base table at Arden Little League Registration at Mariemont Elementary on January 4 and 12 and Arden Little League Tryouts on January 29 and February 4 at Valley Oak Park. Items can also be left in the collection box at 1324 Fitch Way. Donations are tax deductable!

*Arden Little League encourages every child who wishes to play baseball to participate. Our League, in accordance with Little League guidelines, will not exclude any child wanting to play Little League Baseball solely on the basis of the inability to pay the registration fee. Scholarship opportunities that can cover partial or full registration fees are available for those families in need. In order to make it even easier for you – there is no need to make a special trip to Valley Oak Park. All you need to do to reserve a spot is to send an e-mail to Derick Brannan at derick.j.brannan@us.pwc.com, download the required forms (application and medical release) and mail them with a $20 check made out to Arden Little League to Derick Brannan at 4921 Phelps Ct., Carmichael, CA 95608.

All sign-ups will take place at the Valley Oak Snack Bar.

Eligibility Requirements – Residence and Age

Residence – Players must be eligible for Arden Little League based on his or her home address. In the past we have allowed players from outside the league boundaries to round out the teams. Unfortunately, we are not permitted to allow players to participate from outside the league boundaries due to District 5 policies.

Age

Minors – If your child played Farm for 2 years and will play in Minors next year, or if your child played one year of Minors and will play in minors next season, then he or she can play Fall Ball in the Minor division. Players born after April 30, 2003, are not eligible for Fall Ball.

Majors – If your child played Minors for 2 seasons and will play in Majors next season, or if your child played one year of Majors and will play in Majors again next season, he or she can play Fall Ball in the Major division.

Juniors – If your child played Majors for 2 seasons, and next season they are moving into Junior League, or if your child played one year of Juniors, and next season they will play in Juniors again, then they can play Fall Ball in the Junior division.

The Details

The cost to participate is $20 per player. Please make checks payable to Arden Little League. If you cannot attend a sign up opportunity, please complete the application and medical release form, and mail them along with $20 to Derick Brannan at 4921 Phelps Court, Carmichael, CA 95068.

Registration packets must be received by Wednesday, August 17th.

Each player will receive an Arden Little League Fall Ball hat. Minor players will play in Arden Fall Ball shirts that will be returned at the end of the season. Major and Junior players will wear their own uniform from a previous team. Players must wear baseball pants, socks and cleats.

Two forms will be required to be completed to sign up, an Application to Play and Medical Release. Please try to have these forms completed before coming to the sign-ups.

The Format

Format will be much the same as last year – but final details will depend on enrollment. The more players – the better the playing experience so encourage your friends and neighbors to come out and play ball.

Minors and Majors will play at our Valley Oak fields and we will not be actively seeking other leagues to play against each week. Juniors may travel to other fields depending on the level of participation from within Arden Little League.

We hope that the first games will be played Sunday, August 28 and the last game will be in early October. All games will be played in the afternoon. Practices will be coordinated at a later date. If you cannot attend a practice or a game it is no problem. But please be sure to notify your coach for planning purposes.

Fall Baseball or “Fall Ball” is an instructional league that allows players to learn and gain valuable experience for spring ball. Players have the opportunity to try different positions under low stress conditions. Practices are low key and are not mandatory. Coaches want to teach, players want to play and that is exactly what happens in Fall Ball.

We anticipate that the season will run from the end of August through in to early October. Final schedule and format will depend on the number of players – the more players, the better the experience. Games will be on Sunday and practices (if any) will be at the players’ and coaches’ convenience. Our goal is to avoid conflicts with Soccer but still take advantage of the great fall weather for some low key baseball. Sign-ups will be during the first or second week of August and there will be a small fee. More details to follow. 2011 Arden Junior All-Stars - District 5 Champs

Our Little League All-Star team (11/12 year olds) played 5 intense games at their tournament at College Glen Little League. This team finished with 3 wins and 2 losses, winning their Area Bracket and making it to the District Finals bracket. This team performed well both offensively and defensively all tournament, scoring 34 runs while only giving up 17. Congratulations to Manager Pete Nixon, his coaching staff and players for a spectacular tournament!

Our District 5 Champion Junior All-Star Team went the farthest of all our teams this year. Winning the District 5 tournament with a record of 4-1, and then reaching the final game of the Section 4 Tournament with a record of 2-2, this team showed exceptional determination and “never give up” tenacity over their 9 total games. Arden Little League is very proud to be the reigning District 5 Junior All-Star Champions! Congratulations to Manager Bob Taylor, his coaching staff and players for an incredible run in this year’s tournament!
