Fall/Winter Field Maintenance
October 31, 2009 by Jason Reckers · Leave a Comment
Important Field Maintenance Alert!
Field maintenance is starting early for the 2010 Season.
The fields (at Valley Oak Park) are currently undergoing turf renovations. There should be no mid-week play on the Blue and Red fields (infield or outfield) or on the White infield and surrounds. We have over seeded these areas and we need several weeks to get the new turf up and ready for play next Spring. We will be able to play games on Sunday but we should try to limit all other play for the next three to four weeks. We will provide an update when the fields become available again.
The turf will be irrigated three times a day for just a couple of minutes each time, but you could get wet (not on Saturday or Sunday though).
We will also have a field work day in the next two weeks or so. The focus will be to prep the infields (skinned areas) for next Spring and to repair existing pitchers mounds and build one or two new ones. We will need help on Saturday afternoon (after soccer) and Sunday morning (before baseball) to get everything completed. A solid effort now will leave the fields playable with very little effort next Spring.
~ Facilities Director – Robert Bohn

Welcome new league President and recognition
September 23, 2009 by Jason Reckers · Leave a Comment
On Tuesday evening September 22nd the Board of Directors elected Kirk Giberson as the new President of Arden Little League, effective immediately. Outgoing President Bob Taylor had fulfilled his commitment in this capacity and is pleased that Kirk stepped up to take over that position. At the meeting Bob was recognized for the job he has done, as was Julie Hoang who formally stepped down as the Snack Bar Director and turned the reigns over to Samantha Smith and Brandi Hartman. Please welcome Kirk and take a moment to thank both Bob and Julie when you have an opportunity.

One for the Coaches: remember they are just kids

There are times when they are up to the hard work and the pressure. However remember that other times they may regress…after all its all about the kids!

Congratulations to our Arden Major All Stars who gave Rancho Cordova all they could handle in the Area Championship Game. While we would have liked for them to win that championship it is great to recognize what a fine run this team had. Rancho moves on to the District Finals with one loss, that being to this fine Arden Major All Star team. The Major All Stars tournament continues with Rancho facing Fair Oaks/Orangevale beginning tonight at 6:00 PM at the fields on Engle just east of Walnut.
On Saturday morning the Arden Major All Stars faced Rancho Cordova at C bar C and won 5 to 4. They earned an opportunity to go to the area finals. The Area Championship game opportunity came behind the solid pitching of Taylor Avakian and the big lumber of the All Stars as Bailey Wegener, Auston Chastain, Michael Fanfelle and Taylor Avakian all hit home runs…some fans may still be out in the bushes looking for some of those long shots.
Julie asked that I forward this message in regards to volunteers:
Hello Arden Little League Families – We have a great pleasure and honor to be hosting ALL STARS at the Junior Level ( Which is the White Diamond). We would greatly appreciate any and ALL help for this tournament, It would not be possible without volunteers like yourselves. Even if your family could do ONE night that would help. The Junior Games Start July 1st and go until July 17th. So we have a lot of games - almost every night, with the exception of July 3-July 5 when we take a break for the holiday.
We need BBQ and Snack Bar Workers. We would love it to be solely operated by volunteers, so if the kids would like to work: They would need to be at least 13 and going into the 8th grade. Most of the Junior Families have already worked the snack bar at American River College so this is another opportunity to give back to our great league. We wouldn’t want our Jr. League families to have to work the nights that Arden and their own kids are playing, so families of other levels are need, and if any other night would work that is appreciated as well. All Families are encouraged to help. If you are able to volunteer please email us @ Quisam@Sbcglobal.Net, (Samantha) and/or JWH114@aol.com or Brandi520@aol.com (Brandi) or call 487-2701
So Thank you Julie for helping to guide us through this busy and fun opportunity. Many were not at the closing ceremony BBQ and may not have heard: it is with a heavy heart and many tears that Julie Hoang has decided to step aside and let Brandi Hartman and Samantha Smith take over the Snack Bar and it’s Duties (This tournament being one of them). So be sure and thank Julie for her many hours / years of hard work and also to offer your support and assistance to Sami and Brandi as they undertake this momentous transition.
First opportunity to support the transition? Volunteer for the Junior All Stars tournament!
Do you know the All Stars? The list of players is below.
